Nona Jones

Assistant Planner, London

Since her arrival at Planning Potential, Nona has been an instant hit. She has a calm and friendly manner and her research skills are outstanding.

BSc (Hons) Geography  Lancaster University
MSc Urban and Regional Planning  University of Birmingham
Licentiate Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute

Nona joined Planning Potential in July 2017 and has since been assisting the team on a range of projects and working towards chartered status.

Whilst studying she also gained experience working for Lancaster City Council's Planning Policy Department assisting with their new local plan and as an intern in Environmental and Sustainability, specialising in industrial symbiosis.

Nona has a particular interest around the issues of short-term holiday lets, where her Masters dissertation investigated the impact of Airbnb on London’s housing stock, using GIS data and interviewing local authorities and the Greater London Authority (GLA).

Since joining Planning Potential Nona has worked on a range of projects, preparing planning appraisals, applications for a variety of leisure and residential developments. Nona is responsible for managing the planning and licensing portfolio for a large high-street bakery and has gained experience of submitting and managing appeals through written representations. She has also assisted with the promotion of a number of sites for residential development through emerging local plan consultations and discharging conditions for major applications.

Outside the office Nona enjoys travelling and hiking – some of the bigger ones she’s completed include the Salkantay Machu Picchu Hike and the Tour De Mont Blanc. Nona also enjoys horse riding and cycling, recently cycling around her home island of Anglesey, North Wales (for fun apparently).
