Katy Lister

Katy gained experience in a number of different planning roles before joining Planning Potential, and she has built up an impressive track record. Her skills and experience are evident in the quality of work she produces and in the outcomes she achieves.

Katy graduated from the University of Sheffield with a Masters in Town and Regional Planning, and also has a BSC (Hons) in Geography from Sheffield Hallam University.

Katy joined Planning Potential in January 2020 and gained her chartership in March 2022. She is now a Senior Planner based in the London team. During her time at Planning Potential she has worked on a broad range of projects varying in size from several bespoke dwellings to major mixed-use schemes.

Recent achievements include securing consent for 58 units and commercial floorspace in Greenwich, reserved matters for 253 units in Braintree which was approved following a resolution to grant at planning committee, and a controversial S73 application for the same site for a suite of amendments which was approved in December 2024 under delegated powers, as well as an allowed appeal in Wandsworth following a refusal on principle for a mixed-use scheme in a Locally Significant Industrial Site. She regularly undertakes site appraisals advising on planning strategy from the outset, coordinates large consultant teams on planning applications and appeals, and prepares and submits representations throughout the Local Plan process for a broad range of clients.

Outside of the office, Katy enjoys trying out new bars and restaurants in and around London with friends and family. She also enjoys a number of different sports including netball, swimming and skiing.
