Alastair Close

Alastair has over 20 years’ experience, working on projects throughout the UK, with a particular focus on London and the Southeast. He has worked in both public and private sector roles, developing a thorough understanding of the UK planning system to provide bespoke, commercially focused advice.  He advises a diverse range of clients including national retail and commercial operators, residential developers, investment funds and private individuals. 

Alastair has a proven track record helping to secure consents for major developments on challenging sites, often managing multi-disciplinary teams, and assisting national operators with new site rollouts and portfolio management.  He is a tenacious project manager and excellent negotiator, always striving to find a solution to help drive projects forward.  Alastair also has extensive experience supporting clients at appeals, including appearing as an expert witness and where necessary instructing counsel.          

When not indulging his passion for planning, Alastair enjoys hill walking (especially bagging a Munro or two), travel and trying to improve his golf handicap.
