A helpful and diligent planner with nine years’ public and private sector experience, Sam always goes the extra mile to meet clients’ needs.
BA (Hons) Geography – Newcastle University
MSc Town Planning – Newcastle University
Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute
Having gained valuable experience in local government, Sam joined Planning Potential in October 2013. He has an excellent understanding of the UK planning system and works on a range of projects – including retail, leisure and residential developments. Involvement in these projects has allowed him to build on the experience he gained at local authority level.
Assessing development opportunities for clients, Sam undertakes site visits, prepares comprehensive reports and appraisals, and provides planning advice and guidance. He prepares pre-application notes and coordinates application packages for retail, leisure and residential developments. He also undertakes thorough research and monitoring to support applications and keep clients and colleagues up-to-date with local development framework changes, relevant appeal decisions and competitor activity.
Sam has built up valuable skills and knowledge by attending and providing responses to planning committees and public consultations, and by coordinating and participating in community consultation events.
Outside of work Sam likes running (far), playing squash (badly) and drinking real ale (often)!
