Planning Potentially secured full planning permission for a wind fence to produce renewable energy in connection with the neighbouring lodge development.

On behalf of our client, Larkfleet Group, we secured planning permission for the erection of a wind fence, with the energy harvested from the wind fence stored in a storage battery to support the neighbouring holiday lodge development.

The main purpose of the application is to provide an additional source of sustainable energy, alongside the wider suite of renewable technologies employed on the neighbouring site, to significantly reduce the developments reliance on the national grid. The wind fences are a new technology and signal an approach to making neighbourhood wind energy simple, modular, viable at moderate wind speeds and easy to install.

By leveraging our positive relationship with planning officers, built off the back of our involvement in the lodge development itself, Planning Potential profiled the benefits of the proposal, highlighting compliance with policy and successfully addressing comments raised during the determination such that the proposal was recommended for approval.

Planning Potential represented Larkfleet Group at planning committee and following a series of Q&A’s, we were delighted to receive an almost unanimous recommendation to approve.

The project highlights the important role planning has in unlocking renewable technologies and we were delighted to prepare, submit and manage the application on our client’s behalf.
