On behalf of Fenland Extra Care Consortium (FECC), Planning Potential secured unanimous approval at planning committee for a new waterfront Extra Care apartment scheme in Wisbech.
Planning Potential were instructed to assist Fenland Extra Care Consortium (FECC) at reserved matters stage to bring forward an Extra Care home in Wisbech following grant of outline consent on the wider site. The proposals related to plot 5 fronting the River Nene and sought redevelopment of vacant brownfield land to provide 70 extra care apartments alongside communal areas. The apartments will be for over-55s who require an element of care and will be 100% affordable.
The development will deliver high-quality accommodation designed to meet the needs of older people, providing a safe and supportive environment while promoting independence. Extra care housing plays a vital role in addressing the growing demand for specialist accommodation, reducing pressure on health and social care services, and enabling residents to enjoy a better quality of life within a community setting.
Planning Potential led the process from start to finish, including pre-application discussions with the local authority, preparation and review of planning submission documents, as well as project management of the consultant team. Once the application was submitted, we worked closely with planning officers and consultees, negotiating and responding to issues raised throughout the determination period.
This resulted in the application securing unanimous support of members at planning committee, reflecting the strength of the planning case and the collaborative approach taken by the project team.
