Approval granted for the latest Maggie's cancer care centre in the grounds of Maidstone Hospital in Kent

Maggie's centres provide free practical, emotional, and social support to people with cancer and their family and friends. They are designed by leading architects in hospital grounds to create uplifting places where professional staff can offer the support people need.
The proposed building at Maidstone Hospital has been designed by the renowned architecture art and design studio Assemble, who have a reputation for innovative and inspiring architectural design. The garden has been designed by J&L Gibbons.
The National Design Guide (2021) strives for the creation of well-designed places that are beautiful, enduring and successful. Specifically, “well-designed places influence the quality of our experience as we spend time in them and move around them… they can lift our spirits by making us feel at home, giving us a buzz of excitement or creating a sense of delight. They have been shown to affect our health and well-being, our feelings of safety, security, inclusion and belonging, and our sense of community cohesion”.
This sits at the very heart of what Maggie's strives to archive. There is an undeniable need for these services to support people with cancer. The Maggie's Centre will complement the cancer services provided at the Maidstone Hospital.
