Vue's new cinema in Basildon now has permission to open until 3am every day of the year
Planning Potential were appointed to secure extended opening hours for Vue's new cinema in Basildon to match the hours on the licence. Whilst the original planning permission allowed opening until 3am, this was restricted to just 10 occasions a year. For the remainder of the year, the cinema was required to close at 1am.
We liaised closely with Vue's noise consultants who undertook surveys demonstrating that there were no adverse effects on residents when the cinema opened on occasion until 3am with a noise management plan in place. We also undertook research and established that the Council had previously granted 3am opening throughout the year for another cinema group within close proximity to residential development.
We were delighted that the Council's environmental health team agreed with the findings of the noise report and that no public objections were received.
The application was reported to planning committee and received unanimous approval. We were particularly pleased with this result as during early discussions the Council had indicated only temporary permission may be possible.
