Permission secured for Redrow Homes development in Buntingford
26 May 2016
Councillors acknowledged the efforts the project team had made to satisfy the needs of the town and unanimously voted in favour of a resolution to grant planning permission
Working on behalf of Redrow Homes, Planning Potential provided the planning and consultation expertise required to secure planning permission for a new development in Buntingford, East Hertfordshire.
In October 2015, full planning permission was granted by East Herts District Council for a development of 180 homes, with amenity space, parking and access on land north of Park Farm Industrial Estate.
The original applicant chose not to deliver the consented scheme and the site was acquired by Redrow, who were keen to deliver a high quality development featuring a wide range of housing designs. Planning Potential helped Redrow secure permission for minor adjustments to the approved scheme.
Throughout the application process, the project team maintained a dialogue with officers, consultees and local residents, taking feedback and comments on board. A newsletter was distributed to more than 600 households in Buntingford, encouraging residents to comment on the proposals. This enabled Redrow to finalise a scheme design that could be supported at committee, and satisfy the local community.
Alice Brighton, Senior Planner at Planning Potential, confirmed:
“The houses proposed for Buntingford have been carefully crafted to reflect the design characteristics of the area. The scheme has been refined in close consultation with officers, to accommodate these designs.”
A resolution to grant planning permission was unanimously approved by East Herts Council’s Development Management Committee on 25th May, with councillors acknowledging the efforts the team had made to consider local residents’ feedback when finalising their application.
