By working proactively with Reading Council and the architect, The Design & Surveying Consultancy, Planning Potential were able to navigate and secured a Prior Approval within 8 weeks with no planning conditions requiring discharge.
Planning Potential has successfully secured a Prior Approval consent for the delivery of solar canopies in the car park serving the Voco Hotel, at the Madejski stadium, Reading FC. This was secured under the recently introduced Permitted Development Right, Class OA.
Class OA allows for the installation, alteration, or replacement solar panel canopy above off-street parking within a commercial property and was introduced in December 2023. The new Permitted Development Right is a welcome move towards encouraging sustainable development and in this case will help create renewable energy to be stored and used in conjunction with the hotel.
