Will is an experienced property communications and stakeholder relations specialist, who joined Planning Potential in February 2017. Prior to joining Planning Potential, Will worked for a Leeds-based planning communications and stakeholder relations consultancy; specialising in implementing stakeholder engagement programmes across a wide cross section of sectors.
Representing a number of retailers, landowners, developers and infrastructure providers; Will has delivered a number of engagement programmes across a broad spectrum of audiences, from MPs to site neighbours. Will has also worked on a number of residential proposals and understands the challenges they pose. Ranging from 30 houses in a small village in Lancaster to a garden village in Northumberland comprising 2,000 homes, Will specialises in consultation and stakeholder engagement and this experience has made him well versed in developing and adapting messaging and language to suit a range of different stakeholder needs – from government through to local communities.
Since joining the team, which coincides with the start of the final year of his RTPI-accredited Masters in Urban and Rural Planning, he has increased his understanding of the planning process by conducting research and monitoring as well as through the preparation of appraisals and health checks to support applications. He has since passed his Masters, achieving a Merit, and is now progressing towards Chartered membership.
Given his seven years’ experience in public relations and communications, he also supports the team on pre-application consultation, drafting copy for project newsletters, press releases and exhibition collateral.
