Gladedale (now Avant Homes)

The Bass Maltings

The scheme brought about the restoration and re-use of historic buildings with the provision of a mix of land uses that would contribute to the attractiveness and vitality of Sleaford.

We advised Gladedale on the redevelopment of this extensive historic site close to Sleaford Town Centre. The site is the location of a former Maltings and comprises a Grade II Listed complex, including eight former Malthouses, covering 50,000 square meters of floorspace.

The proposals comprised the refurbishment, change of use, extension and partial demolition of the Listed buildings to provide a mixed-use scheme of 226 dwellings, a health centre, retail and restaurant units, offices and car parking. This also involved enabling the development of 22 new dwellings outside the settlement curtilage to help fund the cost of the repair of the historic buildings.

The scheme brought about the restoration and re-use of historic buildings with the provision of a mix of land uses that would contribute to the attractiveness and vitality of Sleaford.

We worked with the project team in developing the scheme, and co-ordinated the pre-application discussions with North Kesteven Council and English Heritage.
